The unique design of the DEDP program allows it to function differently than other MicroMasters programs.
All learners are welcome to enroll in and take all DEDP courses for free, on the audit track. Audit learners experience the same course material, assignments, and assessments as Paid learners, but are not eligible to sit for the course's Proctored Exam to earn a MicroMaster Course Certificate and receive credit towards the DEDP Program Credential.
The MicroMasters Portal Dashboard automatically saves the highest score you earn for each DEDP course. You will not be required to retake the course after you earn a passing score—although you are welcome to re-take the course to study the material or attempt to improve your score!
In order to earn the MicroMasters Course Certificate for a DEDP course, you must enroll in the course, earn a passing score, submit payment for the course, sit for the course's Proctored Exam, and earn a passing score for it. However, unlike other MicroMasters Programs, the DEDP program allows learners to submit payment for courses later.
Learners may submit payment for DEDP courses at any time, to become eligible to sit for the Proctored Exam once they are eligible to do so—with a few important considerations.
If you submit payment for a course after the Payment Deadline for a semester—you must wait for a future semester in which that course is offered to sit for that course's Proctored Exam. Each DEDP course is offered between one and three times per year and Proctored Exams for DEDP courses are offered only at the end of semesters during which the corresponding course was offered (for example: 14.740x Foundations of Development Policy is offered only in the Summer semester, and so its Proctored Exam is also only offered in the Summer semester).
Submitting payment for a DEDP course grants you one attempt at the Proctored Exam, once you meet the eligibility requirements. Passing both the online DEDP course and its Proctored Exam will award you the MicroMasters Course Certificate for that course, and credit towards your DEDP Program Credential.
