Yes, you can! We welcome learners from all fields and backgrounds. There are no formal prerequisites—anyone who wants to enroll is welcome to!
There is no required order for DEDP courses. Depending on your background, schedule, and goals, you can take DEDP courses in whatever order or combinations work for you. However, there is a recommended order for those who are not familiar with microeconomics at all. We recommend learners new to the field begin with Microeconomics or Data Analysis for Social Scientists. Either can be your first or second course. These two courses will be a helpful foundation for the other courses. Data Analysis for Social Scientists will use R but there will be introduction modules and guidance for those who are not familiar.
Please also note the FAQ How do I know if I’m prepared to take DEDP courses? to see which specific skills and knowledge will be most useful and for suggested preparation courses. You can also refer to the MITx Online course page for each course for more information.
