Yes, learners are welcome to take as many DEDP courses as they wish to! However, it is important to note that not all of your elective courses will be counted towards your DEDP MicroMasters Program Credential. Only the two highest-scoring, eligible elective courses that you earn Course Certificates for will count towards your Program Credential (and any DEDP Master's Program applications you make).
While learners are welcome to submit payment for all four DEDP elective courses, if they wish to earn the Course Certificate for each, they are also welcome to take the 'extra' two courses on the Audit track, for free. Please be aware, though, that only one Introductory Elective course will count towards your Program Credential, so you must earn the Course Certificate for at least one Advanced Elective Course.
If you earn the MicroMasters Course Certificate for either of the two Introductory Elective courses, 14.73x Challenges of Global Poverty or 14.009x Good Economics for Hard Times, then you cannot also gain credit towards the DEDP Program Credential by earning the Course Certificate for the other course.
If you complete all four DEDP elective courses, the Overall Course Scores for your highest-scoring Advanced Elective course and your next-highest-scoring elective course (either Advanced or Introductory) will be used to calculate your DEDP MicroMasters Program Overall Grade, as well as for any application you make to the DEDP Master’s program.
For example, if you completed all four DEDP Elective Courses with the following scores...
- 14.73x Challenges of Global Poverty (Introductory): 60%
- 14.009x Good Economics for Hard Times (Introductory): 80%
- 14.740x Foundations of Development Policy (Advanced): 70%
- 14.750x Political Economy and Economic Development (Advanced): 90%
...your course scores for 14.750 and 14.009x would be used to calculate your DEDP MicroMasters Program Overall Grade, and for the purposes of applications to the DEDP Master's Program.
