Effective January 31, 2023, a course design and policy change have been implemented for the MITx MicroMasters program in Data, Economics, and Design of Policy. This change applies to existing learners enrolled in the Spring 2023 sessions of DEDP MicroMasters courses as well as all future DEDP learners. The following is a summary of the changes:
Changes to Course Score Calculation and Passing Criteria:
DEDP Course Score Calculation:
- The score for DEDP MicroMasters courses is now calculated as follows:
- The Cumulative Coursework Score includes the score earned for coursework (assignments and finger exercises) and the Comprehensive Review.
- The Proctored Exam Score includes only the score earned for the Proctored Exam.
- The Total Course Score is a weighted average of the Cumulative Course Score and the Proctored Exam Score.
- The Cumulative Coursework Score contributes 30% to the Total Course Score.
- The Proctored Exam Score contributes 70% to the Total Course Score.
DEDP Course Passing & Certificate Criteria:
- To pass a DEDP MicroMasters Course and earn a MicroMasters Course Certificate, learners must fulfill the following requirements:
- Enroll in a session of the course.
- Upgrade that course session to the Verified (Paid) track by submitting payment before the Payment Deadline.
- Complete the coursework and the Comprehensive Review (or import a Cumulative Course Score from a previous course session).
- Sit for the course's Proctored Exam (or import a Proctored Exam Score from a previous course session).
- Achieve an Overall Course Score of at least 50%.
