A virtually proctored exam is an examination that is supervised and conducted online for specific courses in the Principles of Manufacturing (PoM) program. The virtually proctored exams are offered for the following courses:
- Manufacturing Process Control II
- Manufacturing Systems II
- Management in Engineering: Strategy and Leadership
- Supply Chains for Manufacturing: Capacity Analytics
During a virtually proctored exam, learners are required to download software to their computer that ensures the security and integrity of the exam process. The software may include features such as monitoring the learner through their computer's camera to record their exam session.
A proctor serves as a liaison between edX and the students taking the exam. The proctor's main responsibilities include verifying the learner's government-issued photo ID, monitoring the learner during the exam to ensure they do not use unauthorized aids, and ensuring that learners follow the instructions provided by the instructor.
The use of virtually proctored exams helps maintain the integrity of the assessment process by ensuring that learners are evaluated under fair and secure conditions.
