MITx MicroMasters Programs are not degree-granting programs and MicroMasters courses do not carry academic credit on their own. MicroMasters programs are open-enrollment and do not feature any application or admissions process. Because of this, letters of admission, proofs of enrollment, and official transcripts are not available for MicroMasters courses or programs. Learners are provided with a Program Record instead, and are encouraged to share it with academic institutions or employers as official documentation of their MicroMasters performance.

Share your Program Record Directly
Once you have earned the Course Certificate for at least one SDS MicroMasters course, you will be able to access your Program Record via the Programs section of your Dashboard.
By following these steps, you can effectively showcase your course certificates and SDS MicroMasters Program Credential to employers and schools, providing evidence of your completion and expertise in the field of Statistics and Data Science.
Please Note: Due to the structure of the edX.org platform, each of the four SDS MicroMasters Program Tracks will appear separately, with the following names (the Social Sciences Track existed before the expansion of the program, so its presentation name is formatted differently):
- Statistics and Data Science (General Track)
- Statistics and Data Science (Social Sciences Track)
- Statistics and Data Science (Methods Track)
- Statistics and Data Science (Time Series and Social Sciences Track)
Your MicroMasters Program Record, on the edX.org platform, includes a "Share" function, which allows you to share the record of your MicroMasters journey with academic institutions, employers, and others.
- Please refer to the edX Help Center article Viewing and sharing your program record for instructions on how to share your Program Record.
Note: After you send a link to your program record to someone, they can view your record for that program. Once they have the link to your program record, they can view it at any time, and you cannot revoke their access to your program record.
- Please refer to the edX Help Center article When I share my program record, what information is shared? for detailed information about who can see your program record, what they can see, and when they can see it
Other Ways to Share Your Certificates and Credential
In addition to your Program Record's "share" functionality, you can also share your SDS MicroMasters Course Certificates and Program Credential with employers and schools in other ways.
-
You can add individual Course Certificates and your Program Credential to your resume or CV. You should include them in the Education, Certifications, or Accomplishments section
- You can add your Course Certificates and Program Credential to your LinkedIn profile. You should list them in the "Education" or "Accomplishments" sections of LinkedIn—choose "MITx" as your certification authority under the Education section, or "MIT IDSS" under the Accomplishments section
- For visual instructions and examples, see this guide from another MITx MicroMasters Program, in Supply Chain Management (pdf download)
-
You can signal your accomplishment by including the MicroMasters Program Credential in your title styling. You should use "MITx MicroMasters Program Credential in Statistics and Data Science"
-
You can share your Course Certificates and MicroMasters Program Credential directly, via their unique identification codes. You will find the ID codes at the bottom of your Certificates and Credential. See this edX Help Center article for detailed information
MicroMasters Pathway Programs
Even though MITx MicroMasters programs and courses do not carry academic credit on their own, obtaining the Program Credential opens up additional opportunities for learners. MITx has partnered with a number of universities across the globe to offer pathways from the MicroMasters Program to a graduate degree. These pathways allow you to achieve a full graduate degree more quickly than usual by granting credit for the MicroMasters courses you have completed or waiving some requirements of the graduate program. Please note, however, that earning the Program Credential does not guarantee admission to any Pathway Programs, at MIT or elsewhere.
- For more information about the Pathways from the SDS MicroMasters Program Credential to a graduate degree, including a list of participating institutions, see the SDS Pathways to a Graduate Program page
MIT does not currently offer a pathway to a Master’s degree, but credential holders may apply to the MIT Doctoral Program in Social and Engineering Systems (SES) which is offered through the MIT Institute for Data, Systems, and Society (IDSS).
Institutions not listed on the program's Pathways page are not required to recognize the credential as equivalent to or interchangeable with graduate credits. Learners interested in a graduate program at an institution not currently listed as a pathway are encouraged to have a staff or faculty member from the program connect with MITx at mitx.micromasters@mit.edu. We would love to hear about your interest and possibly build a credit pathway with the institution.
