The MITx MicroMasters Program does not confer any degree and does not carry any academic credit on its own. However, obtaining the Program Credential opens up additional opportunities for learners. MITx has partnered with a number of universities across the globe to offer pathways from the SDS MicroMasters Program to a graduate degree. These pathways allow you to achieve a full graduate degree more quickly than usual by granting credit for the MicroMasters courses you have completed or waiving some requirements of the graduate program. Please note, however, that earning the Program Credential does not guarantee admission to any Pathway Programs, at MIT or elsewhere.
- For more information about the Pathways from the SDS MicroMasters Program Credential to a graduate degree, including a list of participating institutions, see the SDS Pathways to a Graduate Program page
MIT does not currently offer a pathway to a Master’s degree, but credential holders may apply to the MIT Doctoral Program in Social and Engineering Systems (SES) which is offered through the MIT Institute for Data, Systems, and Society (IDSS).
Institutions not listed on the program's Pathways page are not required to recognize the credential as equivalent to or interchangeable with graduate credits. Learners interested in a graduate program at an institution not currently listed as a pathway are encouraged to have a staff or faculty member from the program connect with MITx at mitx.micromasters@mit.edu. We would love to hear about your interest and possibly build a credit pathway with the institution.
