DEDP courses can be taken in any order. For learners without prior academic preparation, beginning with an introductory elective such as 14.009x or 14.73x is advisable. These courses offer an accessible introduction to online learning, reducing initial stress. Conversely, 14.100x and 14.310x are more suitable entry points for learners possessing strong academic backgrounds and relevant interests.
However, there is no strict required order for taking the courses. Depending on your background, schedule, and goals, you have the flexibility to choose the order and combinations that work best for you.
It's worth noting that the DEDP program team assesses the relative difficulties of each course. Learners who are new to the field are generally recommended to take introductory or intermediate courses before advanced courses, although the choice ultimately depends on each individual learner's preferences and capabilities.
When planning which DEDP courses to take, keep in mind that completing at least one Advanced Elective course is mandatory, and only one Introductory Elective course can be counted towards the Program Credential.
