The syllabus of the SDS Capstone Exam is organized into two Parts—Part 1 and Part 2—each containing two component exams. Each Part has a different availability period and proctoring rules. The exams cover material from the required SDS courses, but do not include questions related to two optional sections: one on Markov Chains within 6.431x Probability and another on Principal Component Analysis within 18.6501x Fundamentals of Statistics.
Additionally, the exams are the same for both SDS Program Tracks—General and Social Sciences. The exams only cover material present in both Data Analysis Elective Courses: 14.310x/14.310Fx Data Analysis for Social Scientists, and 6.419x Data Analysis: Statistical Modeling and Computation in Applications.
The SDS MicroMasters team has provided a general overview of the SDS Capstone Exam's syllabus, included below. However, be aware that the specific content and topics covered in the Capstone Exam's component exams is subject to change and may vary between course sessions. The SDS program team will provide enrolled learners with detailed information and guidelines regarding the syllabus and exam structure before each session of the Capstone Exam course. We recommend that learners refer to the communications provided by the SDS team for the most accurate and up-to-date information.
