If you purchased an SDS MicroMasters Program Track Bundle through edX, then you received a Paid Course Entitlement for the SDS Capstone Exam with which to upgrade your enrollment in the course. As long as you have not attempted the Capstone Exam course yet, and your Entitlement for the Capstone Exam course has not expired, then you do not need to pay for the course again.
Please note that, unlike the other courses in the SDS MicroMasters Program, enrollment for the Capstone Exam course is managed by the SDS Team directly—you cannot enroll yourself in the Capstone Exam course. The SDS Team will enroll you automatically into each upcoming session of the Capstone Exam course, for as long as you are eligible to take it.

How to Apply a Course Entitlement to Upgrade Your Course Enrollment
To apply your Entitlement to the SDS Capstone Exam course, once you are enrolled in a course session, follow these steps:
- Sign in to your edX account and navigate to your edX Dashboard
- Locate the Entitlement Selection entry for the SDS Capstone Exam course on your Dashboard
You will likely see two Capstone Exam entries: one saying "To access the course, select a session" and displaying a dropdown menu, and one displaying an "Upgrade" button - In the "select a session" entry, select the dates of the session you're enrolled in from the dropdown menu
- Click the "Select this session" button to the right of the dropdown menu
- This will apply your Entitlement to the SDS Capstone Exam course session you are enrolled in, upgrading it to the Verified (Paid) enrollment track
What If I Don't See a "Select a Session" Entry for the Capstone Exam Course on My Dashboard?
If you can see an enrollment on your edX Dashboard for the SDS Capstone Exam course, but it does not display a "Select a Session" dropdown menu, then you may not have a valid Paid Course Entitlement. This can be a few reasons for this.
You Didn't Purchase a Bundle
If you did not purchase the SDS MicroMasters courses as part of a Program Track Bundle, but instead you have been paying to upgrade each course individually, then you simply need to follow the same steps to submit payment to upgrade the Capstone Exam course.
You Already Used Your Bundle's Entitlement
If you did purchase the SDS MicroMasters courses as part of a Program Track Bundle, but you've already attempted the SDS Capstone Exam course, then your Paid Course Entitlement has already been expended in that attempt. The Program Bundle awards only one Entitlement—one attempt—for each included course. To attempt the SDS Capstone Exam course again, you must submit payment for the course again to upgrade your enrollment.
Your Bundle's Entitlement Has Expired
If you purchased the SDS Program Bundle more than 24 months ago, then your Paid Course Entitlement for the Capstone Exam course has likely expired. Entitlements issued as part of Program Bundle purchases on the edX platform expire after 24 months, but the SDS MicroMasters Program can usually work with edX to reissue these expired Entitlements.
