Yes! You are welcome to enroll in and complete one or more DEDP courses now and submit payment later! However, please carefully review the following information to be sure that you understand the important payment timing considerations.
All learners are welcome to complete one or more DEDP courses for free (on the Audit track). If you enroll in and participate in a DEDP course without submitting payment for the course, you will experience the same course material, assignments, and assessments as Paid learners. You will have access to discussion forums—where course content can be discussed with fellow learners and Course Assistants are available to answer questions—and you will have access to the graded assignments and in-course graded assessments—such as midterm and final exams.
If you complete a DEDP course without submitting payment, you will not be eligible to sit for the post-course Proctored Exam, and so you will not be eligible to receive a MicroMasters Course Certificate and receive credit towards the MicroMasters Program Credential, even if you achieve a passing score in the online course.
However, the course score you achieve for each DEDP online course is automatically saved on your MicroMasters Portal Dashboard and your DEDP Program Record. If you achieve a passing score on the Audit track, once you submit payment for that course you will become eligible to take the Proctored Exam in any future DEDP semester that it is offered. You will not be required to retake a DEDP course that you have already passed after you make your payment.
Please note: If you plan to sit for the Proctored Exam for a DEDP course at the end of a specific DEDP semester, then you must submit payment for that course before the Payment Deadline for that semester. If you submit payment after the deadline, then you will need to wait for a future semester to sit for that course's Proctored Exam.
When you submit payment for a DEDP course, you receive one attempt at the Proctored Exam for that course, but you are not obligated to sit for the Proctored Exam as soon as you are eligible to do so. You are welcome to wait and take the Proctored Exam in a future semester when you are ready to do so.
Please refer to the DEDP Program's Upcoming Dates page for important DEDP dates, including the Payment Deadline.
