When you submit payment for a DEDP course session to upgrade to the Verified (Paid) enrollment track, you receive one attempt at the Proctored Exam for that course. Payments for DEDP courses are now tied to a specific course session, which that you are eligible to sit for a course's Proctored Exam only at the end of that specific session of the course.
While previously learners could submit payment for a DEDP course and then choose to sit for the Proctored Exam during any of that course's future sessions, this is no longer possible. Learners may no longer pay for a DEDP course, complete the course's Base Course Content, and then choose to wait and sit for the Proctored Exam in a future course session. For more information about taking a course on the Audit track first and paying later, please refer to this FAQ article.
If you require more than one attempt at the Proctored Exam for a DEDP course, you must enroll in another session of the course and submit payment of the course fee again to upgrade the new enrollment to the Verified (Paid) track.
Learners may make only one attempt at any DEDP course's Proctored Exam per semester. In order to re-try a course's Proctored Exam, you must wait until a future semester in which the course is offered. Some DEDP courses are offered more often than others, but there is no limit to the number of times a learner may attempt the Proctored Exam, provided they make payment for each attempt.
If you submitted payment for one or more DEDP courses prior to September 2022 but did not use all of your Proctored Exam attempts, or if you are unsure whether you have any Proctored Exam attempts remaining, please reach out to us at dedp-micromasters-support@mit.edu for assistance.
Please note: not every DEDP course’s proctored exam is offered every semester. To plan your schedule, please visit the FAQ How often will the DEDP courses and proctored exams be offered? Where can I find a schedule for all upcoming course runs and proctored exams?
