The DEDP MicroMasters courses may be taken in any order. Which courses are right for you may depend on your existing knowledge and skills and your areas of interest.
In general, the DEDP team recommends learners new to the field begin with the required core courses 14.100x Microeconomics and 14.310x Data Analysis for Social Scientists, as they will form a helpful foundation for the other DEDP courses. However, learners may choose to begin with elective courses if they are prepared to do so.
Of the DEDP elective courses, two are of Introductory difficulty and two are of Advanced difficulty (listed below). A maximum of one Introductory-level elective course may be counted towards the DEDP MicroMasters Program Credential—you must take at least one Advanced-difficulty elective, but you may take two, if you prefer.
If you are unsure whether you are prepared for one of the Advanced electives, we recommend that you take an Introductory elective course first. For both types of electives, you should review the course page and the course preview to determine which courses best fit your needs and interests. For more information, please refer to this FAQ article.
Please note that not all DEDP courses are offered in every DEDP semester. For a schedule of DEDP course availability, please refer to this FAQ article and/or the DEDP MicroMasters Upcoming Dates page.
